Intensive Russian Attacks Disrupt Power Across Kyiv

Energy infrastructure targeted in Ukraine
The country's power facilities have faced increased attacks in recent weeks

Overnight, Russian missile and drone strikes have resulted in power cuts in multiple districts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were wounded while residents in eastern neighborhoods were left without electricity and encountered disruption to drinking water, as stated by city officials.

At the same time, a young boy was killed in a different aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia area in the country's south-east, according to local officials.

Russian forces has increased attacks on electrical systems over the last fortnight, while officials has demanded "real steps" from allies to apply pressure on Moscow.

"The necessity is not symbolic gestures but firm measures - from the US, the EU and the G7 - in supplying defensive weapons and enforcing restrictions," was stated in a public message.

Authorities reported that numerous aerial vehicles and several dozen rockets struck the country's power systems, describing such strikes as "strategic and deliberate" and against "essential services" as winter approaches.

Energy officials said Russia was "inflicting a massive strike" and maintenance teams were laboring to restore power.

A series of attacks struck power facilities and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Several of the people wounded in the attacks on the capital have been taken to hospital, per statements from municipal representatives.

Area administrators said the city endured heavy assaults during nighttime hours. A young boy lost their life and three other people were injured.

The assaults follow periods of aerial attacks in the area, sections of which are currently controlled by Moscow's military.

All of Ukraine is under warning for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are tougher to identify.

Government officials told reporters that Moscow was deliberately attempting to damage the electrical infrastructure, with assaults already impacting gas facilities.

Officials stated technical personnel and authorities were bracing for more assaults.
